- March 2010 - Mammary tumor in lower abdomen. Not going to have removed due to age.
- June 2010 - Mammary tumor has increased in size and seems to now be multiple tumors. After consulting a vet, it has been decided that she will be euthanized when she looses her mobility or starts to show other health problems associated with the tumors. At this time, she seems to be in good health with the exception of the tumors.
- August 3, 2010 - Duo was euthanized because of hardships caused by her expanding mammary tumor. She still seemed strong, happy, and beautiful; however, the tumor was quickly taking away her ability to function (clean herself, eat, and maneuver her cage). BVR Duo's Necropsy Results
- August 6, 2010 - I just wanted to add some personal notes on our feelings about "Momma Duo". She was an amazing girl. She had a special way about her that has helped to form our opinion on what a baby rat going to an adopter from our home should be like. We strive to create more rats that are just like her. She was smug and arrogant and possessive of us. That may sound like a bad thing, but when it comes from your pet its amazing. When we would hold her and scratch her head, she had this look on her face that said, "My people treat me so amazing so I must be so amazing." She was tough, but calm. She had a softness that made you want to pick her up and rub her all over your face. She was very loving toward her family. She would know as soon as she met a granddaughter or great granddaughter that they were her's and she would protect them. We couldn't have asked for a better rat to be a foundation to our breeding lines. Thank you so much Gabe and C for getting us the beautiful girl! We miss you Momma Duo and so does your wonderful family.
